Jake and I eloped this past year in September!! To revive this blog, I wanted to start an ‘Elopement Series’ detailing the various elements of our elopement. A couple ideas for future blog posts for this series: what we ended up spending our money on for the elopement, the preparation for doing my own hair & makeup, and how people reacted to our elopement news. However, seems natural to first write about why we eloped.Read More »
I’m just going to completely ignore the fact that I haven’t posted in an entire year… BUT, I will say that a goal of mine this year is to post more often.
ANYWAY, my first post of 2019 will be about a trip I took in 2018– makes sense yep okay. Last March/April, we took a trip to what quickly became my favorite place I’ve ever been: Japan. We spent 2.5 weeks touring the country, splitting our time between the big, bustling cities of Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka. But we also took a number of day trips to the quieter ones– Hakone, Nara, Hiroshima, and Miyajima. Best of all, we were very lucky to catch the cherry blossoms blooming as we moved from city to city.Exploring Japan firsthand is such a unique experience. From the moment we stepped onto Japanese soil, there was an overwhelming sense that we were entering an entirely new world. The people are remarkably nice and polite, the architecture is so unlike anything I’ve seen in person before, the culture is such an interesting mix of ancient tradition and modern technology, and the food is so incredible that it makes me want to move there for the cuisine alone. We’re already itching to go back next year.
Relive my time there with me (see vid below)!!
HI FRIENDS! Bet you all thought I forgot about this thing. Since the last time I posted, I went through a whirlwind of stress and anxiety and unhappiness and I definitely didn’t feel like posting when I was feeling so crappy. I’m muuuuch better now but I’ll admit that I’ve been dragging my feet when it comes to getting back into a regular writing schedule. I didn’t know what to write about and I even let myself make the excuse that I forgot the password to this blog. (Nevermind that I could have easily recovered it via “forgot my password”…)
Last year was a hard year for me. I felt directionless and unfulfilled and unhappy even though there wasn’t anything exactly wrong. Not gonna lie, I cried all the time. However, I made strides to change the things I could, and accept the things I couldn’t. And let’s be real, it couldn’t have been all bad. I figured I’d focus on some of the positives and share a hodgepodge of favorites from 2017.Read More »
Skincare is so important to me and one of my favorite topics!!!! I finally took the time to break down my somewhat lengthy routine.
Iceland has been at the top of my bucket list for years and I finally checked it off! My boyfriend and I went with another couple for about a week in mid-September and it was such a great trip!!!! Iceland is magical. It is every bit as dreamy and beautiful and picturesque as people say. Pictures really don’t do it justice. There are rainbows EVERYWHERE. It’s honestly like leaving Earth and entering a completely different planet. What’s even more interesting is that the landscape can change so quickly with just 5 minutes of driving. Surreal. This post is my detailed summary of the trip. Warning: it is VERY long.Read More »
I just got back from a 10 day trip to London and Iceland (recap to come) and I only brought a carry-on and a personal bag. Honestly, it was a STRUGGLE to fit everything I wanted to bring. Both London and Iceland had cooler rainy weather but I wanted to look cute for the 3 days we were in London and be prepared for the 7 days of outdoorsy adventures in Iceland. I started pulling clothes I wanted to bring into a pile and soon had a baby mountain that was clearly NOT going to fit in a carry-on. To stop myself from overpacking, I visually put together outfits and thought hard about what I would actually need. I came up with a system that I’m pretty proud of and wanted to share!Read More »
Most people go through bad skin days, and I’m definitely not an exception. I’ve always struggled with acne here and there, but there was a period of time when my skin was so bad that I literally wanted to cry every time I looked in the mirror. I knew I couldn’t continue living that way, so I decided to make my skin health a priority. I made several lifestyle changes that I think truly transformed my skin!Read More »
